TOPIC: 61 evinrude 3hp 3038 carburetor kit and float

Decided to follow my normal way of doing things and jumped right in on working on one of the motors that came with the small fishing boat. Fuel tank and carb was a bit gummed up with old gas. After cleaning out the tank i decided to clean the carb. Over all it looks in good shape all the jets are clear, But the float is shot its coming apart and looks like termites have been eating on it for years. Any one have a recommendation on getting a carb rebuild kit and float for this carb would be a grate help.

Go to your nearest NAPA dealer and see if they can get Sierra's carb rebuild kit 18-7020. My booklet shows it NLA however it has bee wrong many times (5+ years old) If they cannot get it then order Sierra's Carb kit 18-7043
I know the float is the same. however not sure about other parts

Just did a cross check on the bowl gasket...they are the same from the 18-7020 and the 18-7043

Sweet thanks i got a couple NAPA places around here ill try to swing by one and get it.

The kit from NAPA dos not come with a float so I am going to pull it out and take it up there to see if we can get something close to match it. Worse case I will have to modify some thing to make it work.

THe float out of a 1970s 6hp will work, too. Available at a Johnrude dealer... As a matter of fact, the rebuilt kit from the dealer should come with the float... Support your local dealer - this is his slow time of year!
