Hi Guys.
My girl friend went to an auction and bought me motor......yea,

so it says 10hp on the back and 18 on the hood, its a fd-14 1960 for sure, so witch is it?

An FD-14 is a 1960 18 hp

What many did was to put 10 (or less) stickers on motors fo lakes the had HP limits

Also till 1968 many stats you did not have to reg a boat if it was 14 ft or less, and had a motor of 10hp or less
So many replace the decal with a 10 hp sticker

Thanks TT, the clamp on the rear of the engine that holds the hood on says 10 hp and is in very nice shape, the rest is in very poor shape Very poor, So Im looking for an 18hp hood on the cheep! Looks like a fireman helmet!
I just replaced the w/p , it was in 9 peices with the brass ring in the middle.....lol. took me 1/2 an hr to dig all the lil peices out. But It has GREAT compression ,starts easy.

If you've got a pic of your motor, I may have a hood... May also have a rear door somewhere, with the correct 18 nomenclature...

Oh and I need a skeg too, lower housing,......bag a sand, pint of paint.....lol

Yep, she's definitely an 18. The back door latch is easily broken and the same casting is used on the 10 & 18, so it looks like someone busted theirs and replaced it with something that would work for them. I'll see what I can find...
