TOPIC: need help with year

i just picked up a 28 hp evinrude speeditwin, and would like to find out the year. the model # is 28302a and the serial # is e05712 is there any place that i can look at to find this information with out bugging you guys? i do thank you for the help. it is a manual start, and does have the ring gear and starter mounting bracket, if i wanted to put on a starter what else would i need. frog

from the main page, select motor parts, and select your make. the next page you see (where you'd otherwise be selecting the model year) should have a link that says something like "model number guide" or "list of model numbers". click that and you'll get a list of pretty much every model number for every motor made by that company. some lists may only include a stretch of a certain number of years, so watch for that. but, so far, every one i've looked for has been easy to find in 5 minutes or less.
