TOPIC: Powerplant for 1965 Nylox Phantom

Powerplant for 1965 Nylox Phantom 12 years 4 months ago #63644

Just looking around to see what other folks have to say. My boat is rated for 100h.p. it originally came with a 100 h.p. Merc. I have a 75 h.p. Johnson that needs major work getting back together.

Is the Johnson an old 2 barrel V4, or is it a 3 cyl looper from the 70s- 80s

I caution you from dumping a bunch of time and cash into an old V4 75 - they are just about everywhere still - in decent shape. Well, they are in Northern CA that is. How long is the Nylox & what does it weigh? If you can find an OMC 3 cyl looper 70 or 75 - expecially a Stinger, Javelin, Evinrude Hustler, or Formula, then you will have a real performer
