Any good places to get parts for a 1958 evinrude starflite 50?
I need a water pump impeller but cannot seem to find one online.

Would it be a good idea to get a parts list and google original part numbers?

"PM"= private message a.k.a e-mail. I most likely have an impeller left over from when I had my 50 Evinrude.

if jim doesn't have one, i'd recommend Joe at Ferguson-Poole. i've personally dealt with him and recently purchased an impeller from him for my 58 johnson 50hp. GREAT customer service and very competitive pricing.

I'm a member on a scooter forum and send pm's often but i just don't see what the heck i'm missing here? I cannot find any PM or message button to click on.

If you have an impeller send me an email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Maybe you could help me out with pm's LOL!

Riceman, i'll check with Joe since i want to replace fuel pump diaphragm while i'm at it.

Sierra does not make the diaphragm, however your local OMC dealer can order it. Part # 0305186...That is if it still has the pump that came with the motor

If you are going the the OMC dealer the part # for the pump impeller is 0377992

You can also go to marineengine.com for parts. They have the parts diagrams also if you have the serial number from the engine.

Thanks guys. From the replies i was able to find what i needed.
Carb kit and impeller should be here by wednesday, then i'll find out if fuel pump diaphragm is bad or not.

I had the fat 50 running for about 15 seconds on its own but i have no clue how long it sat before i got it so i bet carb is most likely gummed up (it does not want to idle) and no cooling water came out so it seems impeller is junk.

It takes a while for the thromostate to get warm and open before you will see any cooling water coming out. So don't condem the impeller yet.

Interesting, thanks for the reply. I thought it was strange that absolutely no cooling water came out, it was like the impeller was missing. I'll get the carbs rebuilt and get it running first, i'll just keep an eye on the temps.

It only takes about 15 minutes or so to get the LU apart and lay eyes on the impeller (and that includes drinking half of a beer while working on it :) ). if you're considering keeping the impeller, i would HIGHLY recommend a thorough visual inspection prior to running it for any length of time. if that impeller broke apart, pieces of it could get stuck in the cooling passages and cause you all sorts of heartache and trouble. taking the LU out and looking at the impeller/housing would be time VERY well spent, IMO.

just my 2 cents

Re:58 evinrude 50 parts 12 years 4 months ago #64085

As Chris said. It does not take that long to check.

If the impeller has any cracks in it when you bend the blades all the way back ,it is time to replace. If the impeller had a memory where one set of blades are more curbed then the rest .....time to replace

Me ..If it is 3 years old I replace. I spend over $25 getting to the lake on fuel along...Why have the trip spoiled because of a bad impeller
