It was a busy weekend, among other things, I acquired a (1964?) Evinrude Lark VI Selectra shift, # 404735-EO18xx. Amazingly, after sitting since around 1999, it still turns over with the key switch, no spark though. I also checked the electric shift, and amazingly seemed to engage, at least when I manually energized the blue and green wires. It's missing the alternator belt, does anyone know if that's still available? Also, the exhaust manifold cover has a threaded bulkhead installed in the lower front, with nothing screwed into it. It looks to be factory, none of my older motors have this...???
And anything else I should know about these electric shift motors? Thanks for any help.

I have seen folks plug that fitting.-Simply because they do not know and it " looks wrong " to them.----It is the inlet for air that is drawn thru the heat exchanger then thru that tube on the side of the motor and thru the bimetallic spring on the " hot air choke " system.--I think that belt is available for $$$$ from factory.---Points need cleaning and coils are likely cracked.
Electric shift is very well designed and very reliable.----Make sure the generator is working properly as shift magnets require constant power when in gear.

These are a bit cheaper than OMC parts, however you can save even more if you buy 10 or more :)

Generator belts Bigtwin replacement for OMC part# 307577

The OMC part

I can buy 10 and still be cheaper than one OMC belt, and they work GREAT
