I asked this in a prior thread, but didn't have a pic. This is advertised as a 1960 50hp, it is a 1960 cowl, the book says it should be a 75hp. (no 50hp in 1960). I'm thinking it's probably really a 75hp. Or it could be a 1960 cowl on a '58 or '59 50hp. Does anyone know anything I'm missing here? Thanks-Craig

I'm sure you have looked but the tag on the transom clamp should say the hp

Yeah, I always 'cheat' and check that awesome site, 1960 Evinrude reads "75hp, 40hp, 18hp... no 50hp for '60. But the cowl in the picture is a 1960, and the seller claims it is a 50hp...???
Thanks for the reply

58 and 59 were 50hp in 1960 75hp was the only V4 offered. It could be a 60 hood on a 59 motor??

Without seeing the model number on the clamp I'm betting a -60 cowl ont he 50 motor. The '62 "80hp" I did the same thing. Used the '67 80hp insides and put them in the '62 housing so it looked mreo period specific to my '60 Wagemaker. Just my 2 cents. I'd have to see pics of the motor with the cover off.

Transfer port covers on the 70 cube (50-65hp) are held on by 4 bolts.

Transfer port covers on the 89 cube (75hp and up) are held on by 6 bolts.
