I have a '58 SSH RDS-20 and need the electric start controls/solenoid box/cables/ignition switch/etc. assembly. Is an Evinrude 1960 40 horse assembly interchangable with the '58 SSH 35 assembly? It looks much the same but one of you guys likely knows the correct answer.

Thanks for any insight you can offer.

I'm sure that the 58 and 1960 connector are the same but a few of the pins may need to be relocated (or are missing) if the motor has or does not have a generator.

Thanks, Al. I was asking because I was bidding on a '60 set-up that looked to be in good condition on Ebay. I thought I could at least salvage most of it to replace my rotted controls, but was sniped as I slept. I'll keep my eyes and ears open for something similar.

Can a whole new set-up be reconstructed from the original plug/box/cover with new wires/solenoid/etc. following the original wiring diagram? Is that a common solution?

Thanks, frog. I contacted him through CL, but I think he is the seller of the harness that I missed out on on Ebay. Photos and add seem a lot like what was on Ebay. I'll find out soon...

Yep...it was the one that was on Ebay.

Thanks, again, though, frog.
