TOPIC: Planing question

Planing question 10 years 4 months ago #97990

I am still working on my boat. Carb clean and refreshed will try starting it this weekend. Had a differant question though. When I am on the lake, I feel what I can describe as hull slap in slightly rough water. Is this normal or should I change the trim? I have never owned a boat before this one and I have lots of questions on proper operation and upkeep. Soon as I get the fuel problem figures out that is.

Yeah that can happen. It really depends on the hull and trim. My hull is a glass lapstrake which rides good in rough water but it will slap/bounce when going over 1 1/2' wave or so, depending on how fast I'm going. If I slow down some it goes fine. Hope that helps.
