TOPIC: looking for cheap/free project,lol

Re:looking for cheap/free project,lol 14 years 4 months ago #13649

Post something on your local craigslist John. I got a number of boats over the years like that.

I do know where there's an old Carlson Contender for sale with PT&T and an old merc on it (not the right one for the boat - too old and small) for 400 bucks. I might be able to talk the guy down too. Not a real big boat, but a gas to run on flat water. No paperwork.

I'll keep an eye peeled for ya. We're not so far away.

John, you can tell this boat had a motor swap, as the PT&T unit looks like an original install, but the merc is too old and too small. I went over to check it out again yesterday, but the guy that owns the place won't be back till Tuesday.

I'd be more interested in it if my back wasn't so screwed up, I had a motor for it, and $ to fix it up.

What size engine Frank? And it has tilt and trim?

Have several for you if you want to drive to Baltimore. Have a 13 glasspar around 1957 that I would love to see get resored, needs floor, has great windshield and all aoiginal cast parts. Have a 1960? sea king 14, needs paint and windshield, have a 73 mfg caprice or if you want bigger, a 1971 21 winner viscount needs cosmetic work or a 1973 21 nova, needs sone floor replaced. None have engines, all are OB except the nova (which would be great with a bracket and a v6). Can rig you up with a free trailer, or a very nice one for cheap. Not a bad drive, have more boats for you to look at if interested.

I believe it's an old Mark 78. It is not hooked up to the PT&T. All that I could see there was the old pump and motor under the starboard side of the splashwell.

Perhaps you should consider joining the Glasspar G3 club, Mike

Also John I took this ugly regular boat for free years ago and just last year restored it. Ots a plane runabout but It looks clean now...

I'm pretty sure the dude wants 400 bucks for it John, but I think it's on a good enough trailer to travel. Here's the link from back when I found it. It's still there, I saw it yesterday.

fyi I paid $200 bucks for this in 06.

Also two weeks later I paid another $200 bucks for this
Both were bought in December right before Christmas.

Then In Febuary of 2010 I paid (I think) Another $200 bucks for this

So dont jump on just anything. This winter / December should be a good boat buying month, Mike

You've definitely got some great deals there Mike, also good advise about taking your time and waiting for the right deal to come along. Seems like the best ones find you when you're not really looking, LOL. (Course we're always looking, right!)

Just like that John but the one in the middle I added that motor and redid the fabric on the seats. I sold the motor that came with it for $750 because it had issued..The g3 and del mar pics were pics that were taken weeks before I bought them. Both can use a wood replacement. The boat on the water is a 1966 pittcraft and is solid as can be....
I dont mean to hi jack your thread, just trying to help.
Ill tell you what, free is my favorite price but I will pay (up to $200) for some quality, lol, Mike

hi all,i guess you already saw im back home,i have a great offer from bill lagna, for a 57 glasspar marathon,he sent me pics but i cant download attachments on my computer for some reason,so i havent been able to see it yet,it would make a great boat, ill callyou if the custom craft falls through.thank you bill.
i also am looking at one of two custom crafts that i would like to have,im waiting to see how much, heck ill probably have a hard time getting enough cash just to make the trip, but ill see, plus my wife is giving me grief about money.

Yup...mine is like the yellow one. It is very rough. I paid $50 for it almost 10 years ago and have done nothing with it, and don't plan to. I can snap a few photos if you need to see it. Has foam that needs to come out, needs a transom, etc. but they all seem to. If you want it it's yours. Would love to see it gone. Here's the last photo I have of it.
