Loook for the pump in the boat there is a larger knob that screws in and out by hand. One way it will let it down.

Thanks. It was all the way to the left. Twisted it fully clockwise and nothing. Do I need to disconnect the hoses next?

try pushing down on the motor the pivots may be rusted last resot breed the hoses.

If I recall the tilt release knob on the PT&T pump only allows you to tilt the motor up, not to lower it down??

Is there any possibility of hooking a battery directly to the pump to energize the "down" solenoid? That should be the one with the green wires connected.

Another way to relieve oil out of the trim cylinders would be to remove the 'bleed' screws. Little allen-headed screws that you remove to bleed air out of the system. If you pull the right set of screws the motor's gonna go down. I would think the screws at the bottom of the cyl would do it but if not, the ones at the top (if you can get at them).

Black is ground, green for down, and maybe blue or red for up? Can't remember!

Got a new battery. Connected the ground & green wire. Heard the pump trying to do something, but motor didn't move. Tried the other wires & nada. I start vacation this Saturday. Will try bleeding then. I have the hoist & stand - just want that motor down and off. Bought a SELOC maintenance book, as well. It kinda-sorta addresses lowering problems ...

Does the pump have oil in it? Does your unit have one or two solenoids?

the postiion of the motor looks like the locking tab might be in place...on the right side of motor look for a tab on motorside that is resting on the motor mount...flip the around and then try lowering....manually or w/ trim pump....

I downloaded the first pic and lightened it up then zoomed in and it does appear the locking tabs are holding it up. Doug

OK. Had to persuade the locking tabs to move, then pry them up. The motor lowered about 2" and stopped. Tried the battery again, and nothing.

It's a on-again, off-again rainy day. Have to go out for a couple of hours, but I'll bleed the 2 lines when I get home.

Short of that doing the trick I'm thinking of connecting up the hoist to the motor, then disconnecting the motor from the trim/tilt and lifting it that way. Definitely not my preferred method, but I may have no other choice.

Comments? Recommendations against?

did you try turning the knob on the pump the other way now and try lowering?

actually can you hear the pump motor running when hooked up?
next step is to carefully crack open the lines and see if you can bleed them out, lowering the motor by hand...

not sure either why your double posting?

Yes, can hear the motor, and completely forgot about the knob. It's back to its original position - full counter-clockwise. Will try that again tomorrow. Rain prevented me from bleeding the lines today. Thanks, Matt.

Knob made no difference. Bled the starboard side, but nuts were stripped on the port side. Wound up cutting the line to the port side. It was dry as a bone.

Motor is now down:



Waiting for lift ring to arrive. Hope to have that tomorrow, but have not heard from the shipper.

I'm in Manchester, NH. Just spoke with the shipper. Ring will be here Wednesday. Their computer system has been down since Thursday. Good thing I called them. 2 rings?

who did you get the riing from? heartland mfg. near chicago,IL?
wondering they are like 90 minutes from me...i got one from them worked great ended up ordering from them again to turn lifter into a puller for the flywheel...

No, I ordered the ring from Bob's Machine Co. in Florida. Only place I found on the web when I searched. Great people.

Yes, stringers and flooring is shot. Replacing transom, as well. All of the wiring and the instruments. I have new pedestal seats coming in.

Motor is supposed to have been running. I have my doubts. Flywheel turns, but grudgingly. Very stiff. I have a friend who's brother is a marine mechanic. He is coming by after his vacation to check it out.

Lift ring fits beautifully. Very nice ring. Unfortunately, motor still refuses to lift off. Those iron rods are jammed in against the motor, and the motor prevents the rods from coming out. Catch-22.

Th must have filled those bolt holes with 3M5200. This one was a serious pita to get out.



So it's just hanging around in my garage for the time being.



Need to replace these bolts, as well ...



Very glad to have that off at last. I should have my heat gun this week, and then I'm off and running to remove the bumper ... should be lots of laughs.

Th must have filled those bolt holes with 3M5200. This one was a serious pita to get out.



So it's just hanging around in my garage for the time being.
