TOPIC: Stuck mercury - some hope?

Stuck mercury - some hope? 10 years 4 months ago #97938

I have been soaking the mercury Mark 5A for about a week or so now - I am getting a tiny bit of movement from the two inner cylinders - basically I have them filled with mmo and other release stuff and when I crank on the flywheel the fluid oozes up and down - the two other pistons are at the bottom of their travel and the cylinders will not fill with oil - I am assuming that they are either at exhaust or intake point and the stuff is just running out? My question is just how much force can I apply to the flywheel nut and is it ok to tap on a pry bar on the flywheel nut? I am nervous of putting too much force on it and something snapping inside.

It is time to tear that motor down all the way. You may have so much rust that it may not run even if you get it to free up
