I got the prep work on the cab done last week... All the paint stripped, rust removed, and sanded. Some of the really tough spots were spot blasted. This morning, I got a coat of grey epoxy primer on-

Now it's ready for the last bit of body work. There are a few small imperfections here and there to fill in, but nothing too major. Again, I'm not going to be aiming for perfection here, I just want it to look decent. The cab has come a LONG way from where I started, that's for sure!

Looks great Andrew! Thanks for all the pics of progress. I look forward to them, as I know many others do. Keep up the great work.

This project has been dormant for a while- With my VERY busy work/school schedule, and the new baby, I've had to focus on just one at a time. Now that the Lake N Sea is at least semi-complete, I've turned my attention back to this one!

I was going to fix the old drivers door, but I picked a pair of them up at a swap meet for a price I couldn't pass up. They are going to require a lot less work than the ones that I had... I removed all the old paint, and a little bit of bondo... Then I welded up a few holes, and ground it all smooth. The door is ready for epoxy primer now-

Once I prime it, I need to do a little body work, then it's ready to prime/paint.

The bed has some issues- Mainly the floor. I got it cut out today-

That was a LOT of work! Most of the structure is in pretty good shape, I have to do a little patching here and there. Then, I'll weld a new floor in place.

In the very near future, I'll be moving the whole project into the basement workshop so I can tear it all off the frame.... Should be interesting :)

Andrew,
Great progress. Where are you getting the bed floor from?

I was going to use a donor bed from another truck, but I might just use some new 'patch panels' to fab one up... Its about 4' x 8'. I had also considered using a flat sheet of steel, but I was a little worried about it having too much flex without the ribbing that used to be there.

I would go with the donor or patch panels. Your right flat sheet won't be very strong and will flex way too much.

I've always liked those oak plank kits with polished or chrome strips to hold them in. The only problem then is I wouldn't want to haul anything back there, but they sure are pretty.

Just learned today the Corky Coker re-opened Honest Charlie's speed shop in Chattanooga Andrew, maybe time for another road trip soon! :)
