Hello, there is an estate tag sale close to me that listed this 1959 Alumacraft boat. The only info I can get is from the company running the estate sale. They said "it ran last time used" of course they all say that. I asked how much, he said $2000 today, $1500 Friday, $1000 Saturday if still for sale. I am thinking it will still be for sale and likely making the drive to check it out. I still think $1000 is too high but thought I would get some input. Since I am am inexperienced I also thought I would ask what I should look for? Good transom, loose rivets?, engine turns over? Look in the gas tank? Any input would be appreciated on what to look for or what to offer in $. Thanks so much

peoriaone,

IF I was going to look at that rig, I would be looking for COMPLETENESS & the absence of CRACKS/HOLES & the trailer being afflicted with "cancer".
BigTwin OMC outboards are generally fairly easy to repair (unless they are STUCK, due to NO oil in the fuelor obviously damaged by "hitting something" hard).

IF I was trying to buy it, I wouldn't want to pay over 500.oo cash or LESS.
(I recently bought a similar "tin rig", in about the same condition & that RUNS "pretty good" for 300.oo cash.)

just my OPINION, satx

Might be and FD wit a bow cover and remote steering set up. I don't think it's an FDR but may be.

I too think a grand is too high but I'm far from a expert. Transom repair/replacement on a lummie is usually a piece of cake compared to a glass boat. It might be good negotiating bait though. Rivet repair, 10-24 screws, usually 3/4 inch, with nylon nuts and a washer work great and really easy to do. $500 seems about right for this time of the year.

peoriaone,

IF I had bought a tin boat that leaks, I would sooner, rather than later, email TallTexan for advice, as he's GOOD at that sort of thing & helpful, too.

It followed me home today. 59 Alumacraft Deep C. With 50 HP Johnson. Estate sale started it at 2000 4 days ago, they accepted $350 today. Got my winter project lined up.

Looks like you got yourself a good project there. I have gone all aluminum due to the fact they are easier than the glass boats and once done, low maintenance. Price was right too. Good Luck with it.

Nice job. Enjoy it, it's a great old boat.

I second Hugh's comments above.
