TOPIC: Texas Maid Osprey

Texas Maid Osprey 8 years 2 months ago #127005

I just purchased a nice little runabout and am told it is an Osprey. It is 14' in length and seems to be in nice condition. It is complete with most of the original cleats, handles, windshield, etc. and I think will be a nice project.

Question: On the right rear corner of the boat, into the trim piece just under the starboard fin, is stamped "1-11-57-106". I assume this is the serial number....probably built January 11, 1957 and probably number 106 of this model/series?

Can anyone point me to a brochure or picture of one of these boats in its original paint scheme? I've looked through the gallery, but see nothing of this model.

Thanks.

Try typing in your year, manufacturer and model into google images, lots of color pics come up to take a look at. See if you can tell what the color(s)were before by looking under areas, etc and go from there. They do show a pretty stylish looking logo in various colors to contrast with the boat colors, happy restorations! There seems to be quite a few forum posts in other boat sites, so look around the internets for more info. Looks like many of the ad copy was greyscale with one other color, not full color like later years.

First, do no harm!
It's a lot easier to buy a boat than sell a boat.(Stole this from a member!)
All that work and hardware store mailbox letters for the hull? Tsk tsk..

Here is one I found online and I will be using this paint scheme but in blue / white to match the decals I found for sale at Garzon:

That boat restored with those new decals and new color of Blue and white should really look nice. Can't wait to see the finished product. I saved that link so thanks. Guess I need to get busy myself. Best of luck with the project.
