TOPIC: Crestliner without pink in California

I live in Nevada and for all the good laws we have, trying to title a boat without owners papers is no way, no how. Any different in Ca? Thanks Hugh

Hugh, I have a couple boats without titles. I went to CA DMV and seems to be possible. One will need a lien sale the other only a "statement of facts" as it was not in CA system. I have not completed process, will start after holidays.

If the boat IS registered in YOUR name, in another state, what paperwork does NV require?

In WV, having the boat registered to me in Wisconsin makes getting a title MUCH easier.... BUT Wisconsin will only do boats UNDER 16ft online.

Thanks for the input. If I have a pink slip from out of state in my name or someone eles's name, I take the boat and title to fish and game. They verfiy the boat hull I D numbers with the title, no problem. I have had some old boats that never had an I D plate so I just made one up and stamped the #'s on it. So the title could be from any state and in anyones name with a signature. Maybe I will look at Wisconson on line for some info.
The owner will give me a bill of sale on the boat. Trailer is no problem. This boat looks to be late 50's 14ft or so with polished deck, an outboard and the trailer for $250. I am leaning heavaly towards just buying it and then worry obout getting a title.

Well as you have seen Norm's name on this thread, he has bought the boat for the trailer and is working on getting a title on the boat and letting me have it. 57 Crestliner Viking deluxe rated for 60 hp so my 500 mercury will fit right on it.

I would like to bring her up to and see your antique outboard.

That would work for me. I would like to see the Mark 50 if you bring it. I only have about 15 refurbished outboards and 4 or 5 in the works. Another 15 or 20 stacked in my shed and behind the shed. I look back at the photo bucket photos and relise how many motors I have sold the last 4 years.
