I picked up this boat, trailer and 2 55 hp Chryslers for a buck-fifty. I can't seem to find a photo in the library. Arkansas regis. does not specify model, just brand and 14'

I figure about 75# of paint. Nothing that 5 gal. of stripper won't fix.

Someone around here has a 1957 Arkansas Traveler brochure, but until they share, here's a '56 ad that shows a similar boat:

The guy I bought it from was telling my how the original paint was done and I think it was just like that brochure. Thanks
P S I measured the boat and it matches up with CSP 14 rated for 4 people and 40 hp but no name yet. Might be a sportsman 14 as it sure looks like the photo in the brochure

Well I can't find any such boat in 1957. In '54 '55 and '56 I found the match for it. It is the same as the photo provided by HandyAndy and is a Sportsman 14 most likely a '56 not a '57. In '56 it has a 40 hp rating, lower in the earley models. After cleaning and inspecting this boat it appears to be built like a brick X... house. Very solid construction and I can see why it is 55 lbs heaver than the Crestliner Viking. The Viking is well built also, but the Traveler is more so. Think I will clean and paint it this spring and get it in the water this summer. The Viking will be the winter project as it deserves to be done up properly as best I can do.

Nice boat. I've been looking for one of those for years. I don't think there are many of those around. Yes they are a tough boat. A friend of mine had a 13 ft many moons ago and had a Mark 78 on it. He was very tough on it (he's one of those guys you wouldn't lend a push mower to) and it stood up to him quite well. Great find.

I have my '61 400 sitting on it right now and it looks good. I think the 500 will go on it soon as I get time to finish the paint. Got sidetracked about 6 months ago.
