As the '48 Clipper is getting close to water test time, I thought I should test out the new tow car

Very cool tow car Hugh, what is it? The Clipper is looking good as well, any recent update pics?

The car was a home built in 1983 and was rotting away in a back yard. I refurbished it and installed a 49cc 4 speed electric start in it. I can drive it around anywhere because of the engine size. about 25 mph with just me in it. It seats 4 if you are friends. It will be used in parades in town.
I will be updating the Clipper photos in a week or so. It will not have the seats in it this year as I am running out of time. I will use clampon seats for the summer.

Well I have been working on this since August. Seats and floorboards will get there in their own time. most or the hardware came from scrapped boats. The nice new bow mounts were made by Bob Cumming and look really good. I have 8 on this boat and 4 on my Sportsman.
This boat came to me with rotting wood decks that were not original. I stripped out the wood, turned it over and repainted the bottom, put it on a dolly to keep in the garage while working. All red oak and redwood framing. I had to give up on it a couple of times and take a break. My woodworking is not too great and My patience is not what it used to be, but I'm happy with it. It will be in the water in a week or two.
