TOPIC: lee craft

I bought a 1961 Lee craft 16ss the other day at an auction. Came with a 75hp Evinrude starflite. Looking for information on it. I also came across another Lee craft that I bought not sure what it is yet I have not got it home yet. Bought it for the instrument panel. It is an onboard outboard with a mercury in it. The leg is gone. I thought I would strip all the trim pieces seats motor horn etc and put them away just in case keep the trailer then away with the hull. Or is that stupid? If anyone had any written information such as sales brochures or manuals I would love to have a scanned copy.

I think I have the model figured out the 16 is sixteen feet and the ss stands for stareflite sedan. A sedan model would have a partial roof? It looks like there was something attached to the windshield that was not there.

Not stupid at all farmerboy, actually a very good idea IMHO. Many of these trim pieces and parts and extremely hard if not impossible to find any more, if you can swing the deal I say why not!?

Well the second boat came with a trailer a 1960 Johnson 75 go outboard that is running and the. Boat for five hundred dollars. Not sure of the mercury onboard motor whether it is any good. I want the nonskid rubbers the tachometer the key switch the horns.

I too have a Lee-Craft and did a fair amount of research on the company. As you know, they were built on Flathead lake in Somers Montana. Ole Lee was pretty well known for splashing a competitor's hull and selling boats under his name. I do not believe he ever made hardware specific to him, so your trim parts are most likely off the shelf parts. Granted they are not readily available now, there may be some value there. Enjoy!

I have no blueprints for stringers because there was none in the boat to begin with.

Your boat is quite different than either one that I have. Both of mine the wheel is a ride guide. Your bow light is different from mine as well. The stern is really different as well. The starflite 16 as has fiberglass moulded in seats. With a twenty in transom. Your bow light is similar but taller than the on on the starflite. The Viking it is part of the bow light. You dash board is totally different than either of mine. Your window is close but mine is angled straight back with no curve. I think mine hard the hard top at one time but it is long gone.
