OK, I'm sure you will get alot of interest on this one... But just wondering, and I know there isn't any real way to estimate, but what kind of budget will it take to finance such a restoration? Figure what for glass repair, from transom to paint, floors, how much for upholstery, [frames, foam, vinyl], rechroming/ replacing hardware, onto a complete rebuild of an outboard. And of course, the big question, what about labor charges?

Thanks, jim

Hi Susan,

I'll look forward to the photos.

Jim,

That's such a hard question to answer without actually seeing a boat. Some boats have intricate interiors and others don't. Some have damage to repair, while others are just ugly, but structurally sound. Some have...

In the case of the 58' Dorsett above, maybe $2500 in materials to cover floors, stringers, the transom, glasswork, fillers, paint, vinyl, and all the odds and ends.

The labor I can play with, but the materials are the killer.

I have a Hydrocraft Fantasy. 15 foot. Short transom. No interior.
Pretty simple with no stringers in the hull.
I do not know if this would be a good candidate because of the simplicity, but I would like to talk to you about it.
I live in central Idaho and you are in Wash.? Easy commute.

Lets talk.

Just acquired a 1961 Royal Scott, 43.7 Royal Scott OB, with matching trailer, mfr'd. by and labelled "Scott". Searching desperately for original pics of interior. Quite possibly 'one of a kind' since I cannot find any promotional material, ads or personal pics. In pristine condition with one suspect stringer. Motor runs strong, boat handles well, and it's not been modernized at all. All original parts, gelcoat and stored under cover these last 50 yrs. Barrelback with faux planking on deck. Fiberglassic at its best since there are no/few sources of info about Scott/McCulloch through 1960-62 and it's my understanding the 'triples', (boat, motor and trailer), were marketed through car dealers in Canada - to new car purchasers.

Complete provenance investigation, restoration contemplated by apprentice boatbuilder from Silva Bay Shipyard Boatschool (1999), Gabriola, BC.

How about a very rare 1968 Hydrodyne Tournament Skier.
