TOPIC: 1968 G3 question

is this boat missing the fiberglass in the center? It's only $200 but want to know what it's missing.

The g3 is a 1959-1963?? model.
All the wood you see has been added and the center-deck has been removed.
I see that it also had a 20" transom installed at some time in the past.
Typically these hulls need the deck section removed, and both the deck & the hull then get the stringers, transom, seat frameworks, deck supports, & old gauge & helm holes filled or repaired, replaced properly, so basically the works.
Since this one has be worked on in the past, you might not have to do all the above, but sitting out filling up with leaves and rain water will rot things fairly quickly.
There are quite a few of these little beauties that get restored, and when done well, they look awesome.
I have attached a picture of my 1966 open cockpit g3. I believe they were manufactured from 1965?? through 1967??.

Thanks Doc, there is this one too with engine for $500 and it's been roller painted so don't know the condition of the gelcoat but why take off 2 layers of paint.
I'm going to get my screw in spark plug wire end next week and try to start my 950, if I get it running I will come down and get the brackets and stuff, if not I might have to have you fix it so waiting to see, wish you were closer I really want to see your Merc-of-fame.

Steve that g3 looks like JUNK from the pics. The only value might be the trailer? I'd pass or if you lov a Super Challenge offer $25 or 50 to haul it away. LOL Too bad they let it get that bad? Always watch out for a Hook on the hulls bottom. Looks like its missing most of the trim and trim castings never mind the winshield, If everything was there might not be so bad? I cant tell if it was a center deck or open deck, might have been a center deck originally? B..

ps. I'd rather remove paint on a complete g3 than deal with finding parts, like said expect to redo transom and floor on one in that condition .....

I would keep looking that is a mess
