TOPIC: 60s something G3

I found this for sale and the trailer isn't fit for hauling much of anything, but the boat looks fair. Haven't seen it in person but am kind of interested. It's been garaged almost all its life according the CO, who got it in '97 and kept it stored all this time. Apparently the black marks on the hull are from the trailer. Have no idea what the boat by itself might be worth - any guesses? I'm told the hull is sound and in good shape.

Welcome aboard Bembry, glad to have you join us. Value is hard to determine without checking the boat out in person. Does the Evinrude run okay? Is the transom and floor solid, or showing signs of rot? (Spongey, flexing wood, etc.) Looks like she'd make a great project, but would probably take a good bit of work to bring her back to life respectfully. Don't shoot me, but I think I'd offer about $300, go up to $500 if you really want it. Just my two cents......

I'll throw another estimate out there. Location may be a deciding factor as prices differ by state.

Trailer (needs work): $100
Outboard (assuming non-running): $300
Boat (assuming solid hull/transom): $400

For a total of $800, that seems a little high. I wouldn't go over $700 as there are a lot of unknowns. It comes down to what the trailer needs, how solid the boat is, what the outboard needs, and if you plan to do it all yourself or not.

I'm a big fan of G3's and it would be a cool boat to have.

No shots! That's kind of the ball park I was thinking. I've discovered there are some older models with the wings or sponsons, and if I were to take on a project that's probably the route I'd go.

amreame - those prices seem about dead on. I found he's asking $700 for the works. I would probably offer $400 for everything if the boat were pristine as he says, but it would still take some work to refurbish and I'm not sure I'd want to invest the time in that model. I mentioned in the previous reply that I've discovered the older models are more appealing to me. They are definitely cool boats, that for sure. It could be to nice to pass up if he accepted the offer though...

Might not hurt to shop around some more, sounds like you're not sure this is the model you want. Try imagining that boat with a more low profile windshield, or none at all. Something about the one that's on there just ruins the look of the boat IMHO.

Since he's asking $700, I would lay out 5 $100 bills in my hand and outstretch it - explaining that's the best you can do. (Bet he takes it). Let us know how it works out.

I agree 100%. It would look much better without the windshield.
