TOPIC: The European version of a G3 centre deck?

Picked up a boat yesterday that is very similar to the 1961? G3 centre deck. It is made in Belgium under the brand name "Eco fiber" modell F100. Boat is in 95% original condition including original gel coat and green color. Even the seat has the original fabric in very good condition. The windshield also original and perfect condition for it`s age. Boat came without motor. Saw a few of these boats on yoe tube with motors up to 150 Hp. I like to be advised on what motor is good or best for this boat. I have several short shafts to choose from. Mark 55, 75, 78 Merc 850 `64, 650XS, 850XS Lwpu, 70Hp `82, Merc 1350 `71 or 1500 J block `74.

I did hang the 650Xs on the boat for the pics and that looks pretty nice.

It appears you have a really good find, nice, original and unmolested.

Thanks for posting here. I read somewhere that in 1960/61 Glasspar provided moulds along with a licensing agreement to a couple of European manufacturers.

Yes, it is the same except for the starburst badge at the front of the sponson and possibly the windscreen (your screen looks different).
The G3 has some curvature in the vertical dimension and it may be that your windscreen has been replaced at some stage. Original G3 screens are next to impossible to find and with multiple curves not so easy to reproduce.

That's quite a collection of motors you have to choose from – which will it be?

I should add, in response to your last question, maybe the 70hp or one of your 850s would be most suitable match, and would give you a top speed of around 50mph (80kph). Bigger motors have been fitted to numerous G3s but in most cases modifications have been done to the hull bottom, such as adding a pad (like a ski plank) to prevent chine walk and improve handling at speed. This boat was not designed for high speed and if it is speed you want then consider (and research) options in making suitable modifications.

I noticed some difference between the G3 and the eco fiber. But basically it`s the same boat. The windshield of my boat is the original. It even has the original decal on it that says "Gecoplast" or something like that. Will make a picture of it. Another difference is the hole for the water ski pole with a floor mounted piece of metal where the pole fits in. I also have the ski pole.

I have no intention of restoring the boat but will have it professionaly polished by a car cleaning shop. I probably try a Mark 78 first. It performs very well on my Aristo craft Torpedo. The Merc 850Xs is also an option but is very heavy. It does not have to be a very fast boat as i have others for that purpose. I think the boat is a 1961/62 so any older motor will do a nice job on this boat.

Nice find Taco, I know she's found a good home now.

She found a good home indeed. I hooked up the Mark 78 and it looks pretty good. I have to make a new gas tank under the bow as the old one has gone. The boat looks very solid with only one soft spot in the floor behind the front seats.

Hello Taco and welcome aboard! The F-100 is a G3 that was licensed by Glasspar's owner Bill Tritt. Arne Larrson built them in Belgium along with a couple of other Glasspar models. That is a very nice F-100, Of course you had my interest with the Torpedo. Then I saw the pictures of your Hohmann H6, and your French racer. I do believe the F-100 is in excellent company. Stop by the other site and visit some time.

Hello Al,
Thanks for your usefull information about the Belgium Glasspar. It was made in Asse, Belgium and the hull number is 15147. I have registered my boat at the Glasspar site. I now realise that I had a similar boat about 30 years ago with a 35hp Chrysler motor. I liked the design of the boat at that time and it seems i still do. Can`t remember how the boat performed so I am very curious how it will perform with the Mark 78. The little badge on the windshield show "Gejaplast" .

I bought the boat from a couple of young people and feel lucky that they only "molested" the boat with holes in the dash for the stereo and the ugly Allpa steering wheel. Nothing that can`t be undone.
