Found a 1250 Tower of Power that runs good, pumps lots of water and seems to be a good fit for my recently acquired G3. Presently on a 16.5' ski boat with modified v with seating for 6. Don't know what the existing prop is but am wondering what folks hear would be using. I probably won't be pulling any skiers so top end at WOT is most likely the goal. Please let me know your thoughts.
Thanks
Jack

Jack:

I would suggest posting this over in the MERCURY OUTPOST SECTION.
Here is the link for you:

I think you will get more replies and info there. ;)

That's a LOT of motor for a G-3! I would think an 21P or 23P prop would be a good starting point.

I think those would be a viable starting point.
Thank you for your interest.

Won't need to worry about prop or anything else at this time, lower unit was full of water. Not interested in tearing it down to replace seals. Still looking. Any good ideas let me know.

Jack:

I would highly recommend a man up in Hayward, Wisconsin by the name
of Darrell Van Eck. He rebuilds and restores old "Tower Of Power"
Mercury Outboards and is VERY GOOD at it!

Here is a link to his website if you are interested:

www.classicmercuryoutboards.com/current_motor_inventory

Take a look at his picture gallery of some of the old Mercs he has
restored and or rebuilt and you will see he is good at what he does.

Hey Red G3
Don't know if you noticed but I'm in Central CA. I have to believe that freight would eat me alive. Really need to find a guru on the left coast. But thanks for thinking of me. Glad some else is on board.

Sorry Jack,...I didn't realize you were in California.

Well, let me recommend a member here who goes by Dr. Frankenmerc.
You can find him alot in the MERCURY OUTPOST Section. I think
he is up in Seattle.

IF YA DO GO WITH THE 1250 YA WILL NEED solid motor mounts or it just might throw you outa the boat @ speed,
