TOPIC: OK guys its all set

As some of you know I have had problems with my right leg for about 5 years now and 3 surgerys.
Well I saw the doc today and its all setup for surgery. They will be amputating my right leg at the knee on monday morning. So after the surgery it will be pirate time. I will be making a real pirate type peg leg and the wife is gettintg me a ear ring eye patch and a parrot told her to make it a stuffed parrot don't want a real one making a mess on my sholder. Hey if they are gong to take the leg I mayas will havc some fun with it. This time it for real and nothing can be done to save the leg.
My G3 will be waiting till spring for me to work on her. In the mean time I'm looking for small cannon for my other boat something that looks real and makes a big noise. Realy don't want to be blowing anybody out of the water.
So from monday I guess my new screen name will be The Pirate.

Your situation makes my knee surgery Aug. 11 seem minor, and it is compared to your situation.

Mike, you certainly seem to have a fantastic attitude going in to this. I wish I could have said the same for myself before back surgery. We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

This kind of surgery is not what anyone would want. I hope it goes well and improves your life.
I admire your attitude. It is obvious you have an enjoyment of life to create such light-hearted fun and amusement out of your own misfortune.

Thank you everygbody I'm trying to keep the best view of this as I can. Its hard to think I will wake up with a stump. I keep trying to go over every situation and how I will handle it. This will be a big change in my life and a new advantur. They say the losing the leg at the knee is a hard one for walking but I'm not going to sit on my ass and vagietate. I have a wonderful wife of only 7 years and we have a lot of time to make up for. So if I have to be a pirate i'm going to have some fum with it. Only thing I will have to be a white pirate love my OMCs. So now have to find a white falg with black cross bones on it. And its for real I'm going to make me a pirates peg leg got it all figured out and it won't be hard to do but got to wait till after the surgery so I can get the masurements.
I have been handed some hard things in life and make it throug it and will make it through this.

I'm sorry to hear of your forthcoming surgery.
My words will not convey what could, or should, be said at a time like this.
I will say, I find your courage and positive outlook most impressive.
Having said that, I've spent the day considering the possibilities concerning the pirate alter-ego transformation.
At the present moment, I can see two distinct advantages.
You will have a head start on us for National Speak like a Pirate day, next month Sept, 19th.
Your operation will coincide with the latter end of Shark Week: actually a day late, but who is counting?
Seems to me, a perfect time to concoct a worthy tale of the fearsome creature that devoured the failing extremity.
You could begin now, by telling folks your off to the coast for some well deserved R&R.
I like the idea of a cannon.
I like the idea of a deck mounted Blunderbuss better.
Finding either could be a challenge.

I did do a google on "how to make a peg leg" returned 1,730,000 hits.
I suspect, many of those are fluff.

When asked where is your parrot?
You could say, "Wilson was lost at sea after seven days in the doldrums, something had to give.
Since your a dyed in the wool OMC man; "Mike the White Pirate; perhaps, due to the circumstances, the Powers of the Dark Side could be prevailed upon to make you an honorary member for life.
Not such a bad deal...

I hope that your surgery goes well. You have all of our prayers and support. I will be praying to the Glasspar Gods and even the OMC Gods for you. Have you thought of a "pirate" name for your G-3?

Mike ....Ugly Peg is taken....lol, It was given to her by a pirate named Brian at the international meet in 09. We might just give ya a nicname here on the board. good luck. We are all with you.
