Hello all, I just purchased a 1961 Glasspar G3. It needs some wood replacement, but is generally in good shape. The one thing that I need help with is that most if not all the aluminum trim has been removed. If you have any trim parts that you would be interested in selling please contact me. Thanks, Mike

Welcome Mike,

I was you last October... bought my G3 project. Just finished my restoration this summer. So what are your plans... when do you plan to dig in to the repairs/restoration?

What kind of parts are you missing?

Dean

My plan is restore my G3 as original as possible. The first step is to replace the transom and floor. I need virtually all the trim. The only parts I have are four cleats, the aluminum trim that goes around the lower fiberglass lip of the main cockpit, and two pieces of aluminum that goes across the top back of the transom. The boat was stripped of all the hard to find parts. So, I'm looking for everything. If you have anything you'd be interested in selling let me know. I'll post some pictures soon. Mike

Mike,

As Mike aka the Pirate says, we want to see photos of your project boat. Its a requirement of being involved with this group... heh.

I have one piece of corner trim that I just acquired from another fellow here on the FG site (PC1000). I dont need it at this time, and if you need it, send me a message (through my profile page). Here is the thread showing the piece... its the starboard, aft corner trim piece.

Mike,

Just a little work ahead... do you have the motor splash well for the boat? Its a critical componenet.

Yes, I have the motor splash well. That's one of the few parts that did come with the boat. I'll start the work on the main part of the boat and continue to look for the parts I need. Mike

Can't tell how good the stringers are from the pic as long as there is no rot I would say to put a couple of layers of glass ib them and beef them up. As long as you can get them now it the time. Let see a pic of the transom from the inside to see how good it is down at the bottom of it. If good you might want to add a couple of knee boards too.

The strings appear good, I had planned on applying additional fiberglass over them. The transom is non-existant. It was removed by someone prior to me getting the boat. I work for a company that machines and forms wood. I was planning on making a form to hold the transom in shape until it's cured to get the correct curvature. Mike
