TOPIC: G3 inboard downunder

G3 inboard downunder 12 years 11 months ago #53195

Found out about a fourth G3 over here. This one has a 6-cyl inboard, which appears to be a good installation, but the curved transom has been lost as have a couple of other details (easily noticed). The seller claims it sits quite low in the water but can pull anything. 35 knots plus. eBay with a reserve of $5000. I'm tempted ... naw!
Ken.

Looks in good shape but for that amount you could restore a few. But there are probably very few glassics over there, one would assume.

Hello, World!!

There are a couple which were locally made, but good glassics are few and far between. Because of our small population (10 million in '59) the variety is nothing compared to the range you have in the US.

I believe there are only four G3s that made it to Oz and I think all were centredecks. Certainly, three were. This elusive fourth G3 finally showed up.

I agree, and I am very tempted.
I learned to ski behind a Hudson Hornet powered skiff - plenty of grunt, and this appeals very much. It has been setup to pull wakeboards & other toys (included). I would want to make the engine cover less prominent tho' and add the correct trim etc.
In keeping with modern car badge-ing, it could be called the G3i ...

It has a quick-connect flushing system (see pic)
