TOPIC: 1966 homelite/bearcat, carburetor dripping gas

1966 homelite/bearcat, carburetor dripping gas 10 years 3 months ago #100400

when we try to start the motor it runs for a couple seconds and then dies.
there is a gas drip from the front of 1 of the carburetors and it smokes bad when it starts briefly.
this engine has been sitting for a long while and the previous owner mixed oil in the gas after he bought it from a shop.he said it ran good once and then stalled, after that he said it would only run a few seconds and then died.so basically it's doing now what it did when he last ran this motor. any suggestions?
it's a blue block motor in northern cali.
has pertronix electronic ignition upgrade and a electric fuel pump upgrade.
