I hope to be soon Bill. The first late model one is having issues but I did get my early model one purring along thanks to Greg. I will have to figure out if i can switch engine covers to the "George Jetson" style or just find another entire early style engine and get rid of the late model. I love the look of that early hood. Going to try to run a single for a little bit this summer until I get the bugs worked out of the other one. How do they configure the engine controls?

They bolt back to back.
For the Safety Mate style with the ignition switch/horn/red light you need a port and starboard control box bolted back to back.
For the later rectangular Bearcat style control box, same thing.
I'll get a pic later today.

The late style are reversible, port or stbd. Same control, just remove the handle and flip it 180 degrees and move the shift/throttle cable to the other position provided.

Figured that's what you need for early controls, I have both a port and stbd and was going to try that.

Dick is right, the late Bearcat controls are cast such that the mating flange allows the controls to be placed port or starboard, or mated together, here's a pic of them mated for twin control.

On the Safety-Mate controls, the starboard control has a small peripheral flange that allows the port side control to fit inside the ridge on the starboard side when running twins. So port and starboard are two distinctly different castings.
One pic shows them mated, the last shows the port with no ridge atop the starboard with the ridge.

Hope this helps.

This may sound a bit strange but I have a set of Simplex dual controls, could I run these controls and run my ignition and other guages seperate like the OMC stuff?

Yes you can run the ignition and gauges seperate, if you notice on the late controls the only electrics inside is the neutral safety switch. These controls had a separate plate with the hot/oil light and ignition switch to mount on the dash.
