My 62 Homelite run great this weekend.
There is a guy here on the lake that has restored a couple of woodys. He knows this motor is a classic. Most of the people here are clueless.
I got the fuel pump issue solved. B)

Same lake you're cruising on gets 3' of ice in winter right Dave?

Great to hear that she's running great. Did you swap the other fuel pump onto her?

Hi Bill,

Yes I put the 1970 Bearcat fuel pump on the Homelite. Bolted right up. Had a little oil leak. Didn't have the pump bolts tight enough.
OK now.
We don't get 3' of ice in the winter but about 20" I use a gas ice auger for fishing. To old for the hand augers anymore.
Hope you are having a nice summer.
I'll get with you on that early fuel pump rebuild kit.
I love it!
:woohoo:
Put the 4 blade 8" pitch prop on her. Runs better. Not laboring.

Isn't that one of the best feelings in the world, Dave!? Hearing the old girl purring flawlessly behind you after you've poured you own blood, sweat, and tears into her is PRICELESS. Glad you had a good holiday. ;)

Yes it is.
I have blood, sweat, and tears into it.
Lot of tears when I had to replace the cam for the second time last year. Rotor come apart and jammed the distribitor hence snapped the drive key. Got the newer style cam in it that has a replacable nylon drive key.
Got a 70 Bearcat I want to put on a boat someday. B)
Enjoy your summer in that Glastron.
Dave

Great Dave! Hope you have many more trouble free hrs of running. Had mine out this morning and unfortunately it wasn't quite flawlessly, no fault of the engine though. Depth finder on, GPS on, radio on and trolling, 500 rpm for the last few times out, the alternator switch on high, it just doesn't quite keep up with the draw. Normally I'll charge the battery before we go out. I always check to make sure it cranks before we head out. On the lake it will die once or twice and it's because I'm idling so low. It died today and not enough juice to fire it back up! Ever tried rope starting one? They start really easy! Found this out a couple years ago and a starting rope has been in the boat ever since. Other than that so far so good on this one.

Hi Dick,
Mine does that too. When I run more than the Alt puts out. I will have to hook up the other wire so it will charge more. I have a small solar panel to help. But I also carry a Jumper battery box. You know the ones that have a 12v sealed battery with jumpers.
My Hummingbird fishfinder has a batttery meter on it so I can check my voltage.
Haven't tried to rope start it yet but I'm sure the would work OK.
All of my sucsess was because Bill Roberts did me good!
I want to add a tach and reg. volt meter to my helm (got them) . Just didn't do it yet. Having too much fun cruising.
