SO I have my new to me f block engine running nicely with it's new electric fuel pump but every time I move the small white neutral throttle from the start position towards the shift position the engine just dies. I am guessing it is an electrical problem but it could just be a new user problem. I would appricate any tips on how to trouble shoot this! Many thanks Matt

Sounds like you need to set the idle linkage screws. I'd start with turning them in about a turn each and then see if it will run in the shift position if not turn them in some more, when it does stay running make your needed adjustments to keep it running smoothly at 600 to 650 rpm, which now may require some adjustment of the idle mixture screws. I'd also be checking timing and dwell or point gap.
