Clean, fresh paint, new decals, pertronix ignition, controls, cables. Dropped a valve. It was very reasonable.

Dick,
When are you gonna run twins? I sure liked twins on my Power Cat. Fantastic fishing boat. I was very surprised at how much freeboard I had even with all the weight, was no problem at all. Docking was a breeze! Bill I think I'm back about the 1st, still in Africa on biz. Very hot here, not a glassic in sight but some cool native boats. Will post pics maybe tonight. |

Bill, great post. Nice to hear from you. Did you see the repair I did on the pivot bracket? I can now move on. As I go thru this outboard, there are alot of parts that need to be replaced and some that are even missing. Check it out.

Bill, I've given some thought to that. I have everything to do it with but I don't really need to for my purposes. Not sure if the boat would handle the added weight and its only rated to 90hp anyway.

Nice Craig! Those break frequently because they are a tilt lock, not a trailering lock.
Yes Dick, have to watch the transom rating. I fly out of Douala tonight, Paris then NY then Seattle. Will get on all the parts inquiries pronto. |

Sounds wonderful. Never can have too many Homelite/Bearcats!
I hope to run my 70 Bearcat on my pontoon this summer. Going to swap out the 62 Homlite that's on it now. Already rigged. Shouldn't take to long.

Elgindave, it looks like you have the same cowling that I do. I wanted the "George Jetson" type, but, they're too expensive. I'll stick with what I have and just repair it. The one you have looks really nice.

I used to repair VW engines. That's called "suckin' a valve". Another bad thing, is that it puts small metal pieces all thu the engine. Good news, you get to build a new engine! Zyglow the block to make sure it isn't cracked. It shouldn't be.

I think that block goes on the shelf for another time. Took another block to two machine shops today this one also sucked an exhaust valve and it looks like just a seat replacement will fix it. Wanted to know if they could repair it. First guy thought he could, second shop said no. Not sure whether or not to let this guy try it or not. I think I need to talk to the Crosley boys.

I talked with a Crosley guy last week, I had bought some Bearcat parts from him about two yrs ago. He has all the equipment to repair the block and would loan it to me. He also gave me the name of a shop in town that did a valve job on one of his engines. I'm planning on paying this shop a visit soon.
