Took the boat out yesterday and was joined by Joe with his Bearcat powered 17ft Uniflite. Mine is running excellent, Joe's wouldn't drop to the idle speed of mine (yet ;) ). I stopped fishing a couple times and we did some hi-speed runs. His was much quicker out of the hole than mine. Overall top speed seemed about the same.
Both boats are running 12 pitch props. After I got mine dialed in it's been a turn key. The only difference between running it two years ago and now is the pertronix ignition. I've gapped my plugs at .040".

gotta love the look of the Uniflites  I'm bias though. Which Pertronics are you using? The one with the multiple spark or just the electronic conversion? I am wanting to convert mine over and try to get the idle down enough to troll with. Getting closer with timing and idle screw adjustments.

The Uniflite is a nice boat. There was time when I wanted a boat like that. In the 80's when I did a lot of Sturgeon fishing on the Columbia in the winter I thought one of those or a Dorsett would have been great. I could have sat in the cabin with heat! Seems I always caught a keeper when it was snowing.

I have just the electronic conversion. This engine has been fabulous this year. I spent some time adjusting the carbs and synchronizing the linkage between them, get as much slop out of them as you can.
