I'm in the process of rebuilding/restoring a 1967 Chrysler slant 6 engine. I've run across a couple in stern drive boats but never an inboard...very unusual plus it's reverse rotation. (I'll bet it could take me years to find a replacement camshaft!) I've torn her down and restored all the parts in sub assemblies. She goes back together this week but I'm going to replace the original Chrysler alternator/voltage regulator with a GM 1-wire. Anyway, here are a few "before" photos, mouse nest and all:

Finished the engine today. There's just something about a Chrysler marine engine. The plumbing is always a nightmare and when all the hoses needed are finally installed, it looks like it's being attacked by an octopus. It's still missing the hose from the pump to the transmission cooler and from there to the exhaust manifold exit. When I get them installed, it will look even worse! There's just no way to make a Chrysler overhead valve marine engine look pretty.

I see your point. At least the doghouse hinges won’t get worn out showing the motor. Looks very mechanical like you called in one engineer at a time and said “do your part to make a Marine version of this, but don’t coordinate with the other engineers.” Then it turned out as functional before beauty. Does look like owners with limited motor skills can trace things out pretty easily. If it never strands you, it is a great motor I would think.

I know this is an old post, but wondering if you have any more pictures of this slant 6 complete? I am trying to sort out an octopus of my own. Previous owner put multiple Ts in one line. I suspect to help with the pump issues before engine reaches temp. Thanks.
