Has anyone ever built or configured a toggle or rocker switch combination for the electric shift to take the place of the push buttons? Or a wiring diagram for the switch(s), not the motor schematic. I know how the system works but am trying to figure a combination of 1, 2, and three way switches. How to wire the diode to stop power feedback while starting etc.

Working on the power shifting and have 99.8% figured out and working but I have one small problem I need help with and I know it's solvable.
Figured out the complete wiring for the controller which was missing and have it hooked up and functioning. Just waiting for the spark advance rod to show up in the mail, seller said it should arrive by Thursday then I can fire up.
I wired a three way light switch for the shifter. The same switch that is used with navigation lights. The normal "off" position is set as forward (no power), the anchor light position is wired as the neutral (power to green lead) the bow/stern position is wired as reverse (blue/green powered)
Power to the shifter is now supplied by the accessory terminal on the key switch so it cuts out during the start process and this also leads to the sudden forward lurch when shutting down.
The engine block wiring has a diode in the circuit and it's working but I don't know how to wire it into the shift circuit to prevent the forward kick when shutting down. I have two other monkey balls that I can use if necessary.
Any help out there??

Why not supply the power from the ignition "on" instead of the ACCY.

I have it figured out now. Can't power from Ign "on" because as soon as the key is turned off the forward gears engage and the boat will slam into forward because of the residual motion of the flywheel, not good for the LU.

There are some good strings about this on the iboats site along with some diagrams for wiring a toggle switch vs the push buttons. I have to buy a diode from Radio Shake today and then it should be good to go.

Another eureka moment. Got the timing advance linkage in the mail today and hooked it up. Finished the wiring for shift and ignition, all but the overheat circuit. Pumped in some gas and she fired right up. Only ran it for a few seconds 'cuz I didn't hook up any water, have to install a new impeller anyway. Shifter worked perfect using the navigation light switch.

Temporary wire setup for shift, ignition and choke.

An old remote setup that I will convert to the "new" shift switch and key.

Now on to the easy impeller change, done this a gazillion times.
