TOPIC: Johnson Shipmaster 4 lever control box

Johnson Shipmaster 4 lever control box 8 years 8 months ago #120281

I just picked up a 4 lever control box as a bunch of parts.
It is missing pieces.
My questions are:
Are the internal parts the same for both the 2 lever and 4 lever control boxes? just twice as many ?
three of the white straight cable gears are missing.
What pieces wear out on those ?
It looks like there are plastic flange bushings on the lever posts.
Has anyone looked on McMaster Carr for replacement bushings ?

Funny you should ask about that. First time I opened up my Shipmaster unit I told my son I was pretty sure I could make one from McMaster parts if I had to.Igus are good bushings, McMasterhas some plastic bushings as well as nylon rack gear. Not sure if they have the sizes you need.

Here's a thread that will answer some of your questions. I believe three of the levers are unique to the twin controller, the rest of the parts are the same
