I can't find the serial number for my 1959 Johnson model v4sl 11 fat fifty. There is a plate on the transom that says Johnson and has the correct model but the serial number listed matches the boats serial number. It has to be stamped on the engine doesn't it? Pic appreciated

Hey Mark, it should be on a plate on the transom mount of the motor right under or to the right on the front where the steering connects, if I remember right. the Johnson plates were in a different spot than the Evinrudes.

There should also be a silver welch plug on the side or top of the block with the numbers on it.
