TOPIC: My NEW 1957 Evinrude Lark motor!

This is pics of my recently acquired Evinrude Lark motor. I got it on the way to the AOMCI meet in Constantine, MI. The motor is very much like NEW. It has not been registered in the state of OH since 1965. It has been kept inside with the cowling covered. The lower part of the motor is dirty with sawdust from the wood shop it was in. Nothing that won't clean up easily. Check out the pics if they come out OK? I am new at this. Check out the flywheel teeth to see the lack of wear. I believe this is a very low hour engine. I expect to have to do the usual items. Coils, carburetor kit, water pump, seals in the gearcase, etc. The motor was fogged and fuel removed before it was stored. This man knew how to take care of his equipment. I got all of the rigging. Everything is in excellent shape. Rubber is still soft with latches tight. No crazing of the plastic emblems. One small dent in the chrome. Of course it's up top where you can see it. The decal under the cowling hasn't even yellowed!

I have a couple of these for restoration. Has anyone tried to redo the front plastic cover?

Can you get a shot of the front emblem in cloudy weather, or indoors, without glare, so we can see the colors better?

I will do that just as soon as I get one of my bigger stands open. Thanks!

Here are some new pics. The motor is on a stand now in my buddies shop, but it seems the lights or flash washed out the colors? I didn't take the photos? The earlier shots were just outside with a cell phone. Judge it for yourself. When I get back down there I will try again without flash.

The last pic is of the original front door shot at an angle. Those are the colors in the door. Everything washed out in the straight on shot. The side shots are OK. The door shot you requested is no good! Sorry. It is a beautiful door in great shape.

Got you a fresh photo HandyAndy. Had to shroud the cover to keep the shop light from putting a glare on it. You know on second look at the original pics, the gold around the Evinrude and in between the colors is still just silver. Weird! Guess true photographers know what is going on. That is the best I can do for now.

I have several of their equivalent Johnson Javelins and love 'em.

Beautiful motor and in fantastic condition. It looks like it has just a couple hours on it.
