I've been patiently looking for a V-4, for my very good condition, turquoise, 15ft. '66 MFG 'Westfield', (I had a similar MFG 'Edinboro', with a '60' years ago, loved it). This one has the newer lower unit, my old one had the 'Heavy Duty' lower. Of course the skeg is broke off this motor, but otherwise is near perfect! Every screw, nut and bolt, looks to be 'untouched' by any tool, prolly still has original impeller, by the looks of it... I haven't got to the vitals, on this motor yet, I'm guessing '66-'67 vintage... I'll post picks as soon as I get to it...

Sweet, seems I'm not the only one looking for a motor. Good luck with it!

So funny. Because I have a 1966 100HP Working Johnson Golden Meteor and I can't get rid of it here in California. It seems like that is the nature of this hobby. The boats we want are always on the other side of the country and when we have excess stuff to get rid of, no one wants it! LOL!

I've seen that motor but Ga. to Ca. is a long way. Good luck with the sale.

Yeah, I just don't want it to go to the scrap pile. But, yes, GA to CA is a LONG way.

I've found a few of the starflite 4's around here but I'm a little worried about the weight on back of a 15' runabout. I've heard they can drink a little gas too.
Apologies for the thread derail

Well, I get that it is heavy, and thirsty, (but usually utterly dependable)... The MFG 'Westfield' is a very stout deep V design, and rated for up to a 70hp... I also have several long shaft 'Big Twins' that could fill in for cruising duties... And, I do (now that I think of it) also have a '68 MFG, 16', that needs seats... As compared to my '58, 15' Texas Maid 'Bahama', with a short transom, which I do have a '58 Fat Fifty, short shaft... It is rated for a 55hp, but I can't picture it...

How's that Gale working out for you? I have one that hasn't been in water yet, just waiting for ice to move out.

Well, actually I have 3 Gale 'Big Twins', two 40's, and a 35hp... The 40's (one long, one short), I have had in the water, Both seem to run OK. The long shaft, shift linkage pulled apart on me, twice, where the brass connector is...??? And I haven't run it since... I haven't run the short shaft, since it quit on me near the launch a couple years ago... and haven't looked at it... The 35hp (long), I just picked last year, with a MFG boat, and a '59, 35hp Johnson... I just have too much stuff ...
