1948 Evinrude 3.3 #4423-13133 Carb help needed 14 years 1 week ago #19559

I picked this little guy up today and had it running for a minute but I'm missing some parts but the problem is I don't know what I'm missing. First off is the knob and whatever is behind the knob that controls the richness. Does anyone have a parts manual that is willing to share the exploded view? I would like to get a rebuild kit for the carb also. The other piece that I'm missing is on the side of the motor there is like a copper coil of some sort that I don't know whats missing but the coil is just sitting there. Sorry I don't have a picture of this yet but will here soon. If anyone knows where I could get the carb parts please let me know thanks.

It sounds good in the vidio but I don't see it pumping and water. It looks like they are 2 hose nipples on the side but don't know what they adre for.

Here's a thread on the forum over at the Antique Outboard Motor Club that has the parts manual posted and a lot of other good information:

There's also a fellow there who is parting out a 4423:

Thank you Mike. I was running it on 50:1 from my boats tank.

You can also let them know over there that everything is for sale and if they would rather see it hang on a wall, $100 it's theirs.

Well if your going to run that motor I would run it at 16to1. Those motors have bushing not roller bearing. At 50to1 you will burn it up fast. Also the high oil mix helped on some to seal the seals. One other thing was it pumping any water?

PS
If your going to work or play with these old motors I would keep the link to the AOMCI site. Gary on there has worked on outboard motors all his life. and has all the books and manuals. Hes in his 70s so you can guess how far back he has info. Thats just about all those guys do is colect and work on old motors.

I will mix up some new gas for it next time I run it. The label on the fuel tank says to use SAE 40? It is spraying water out the vents. I will be replacing the impeller before it's done. Just had to hear it run before I spent time and money on it. I ordered a parts list of ebay last night and now to find the few little things missing. Looks like I'm just missing the control knob & spring and the lid that covers the fuel fill is broke would like to find a replacement for that. O.K. how about some more pictures?

For oil use Twc3 for outboars. I get mine at walmart. Back when the motor was bilt all they had was motor oil.

I believe those use a metal impeller that doesn't require replacing. Water passages do clog though, so compressed air can check this. The main jet uses a spring behind the knob to hold tension on the needle so it stays at its setting. Use a good outboard 2 stroke oil, and it will run forever. If you have a fishing boat, you will love that weedless lower unit. Go to the AOMCI website and place an ad in the Webvertise section for the gas stopper. Not too hard to get, just have to look in the right place, and that's the place.
