TOPIC: Is my 75 hp V-4 supposed to have an alternator?

Is my 75 hp V-4 supposed to have an alternator? 13 years 8 months ago #26550

If not, how do it charge the battery?

Never mind. Handy Andy just sent me a schematic of the electrical system and I see that the alternator is contained with the flywheel. Just like back in my motorcycle racing days.

Thanks, Andy. :woohoo:

In my '66 100 horse the starter acts as a generator.

If it does you'll see it there will be two belts. Most don't.

The 64 -75 HP and the 66 - 100 HP both havee the stator ( alternator windings )under the flywheel !!
No such thing as a Johnson outboard where the starter also acts as the generator.
