1966 Straflite 100.
There is a trust bearing midway up driveshaft that has an oil line leading directly to it from the lower gearcase. This is the same bearing that failed earlier, resulting in my hunting down and installing a new driveshaft and several other new parts.
Weather conditions are such that I won't be on the water for a while so I hooked up the hose and ran the engine for a few minutes, and then popped the lower unit back off in an attempt to find a water leak.
What I discovered is that not a drop of oil was pumped through the oil line. I had used assembly grease on the bearing and it is fine, but until I get the circulation problem solved it's destined for a short and painful life.
The manual says virtually nothing about the oil pump, only to put it together. Nothing about testing it or even how to check if you've put it in correctly.
So, looking for wisdom from the experienced.
