TOPIC: Evingrude up the street - what is it?

Evingrude up the street - what is it? 13 years 4 months ago #36172

last year the guy up the street found a vintage evinrude on craigs list - circa early 1960's I think. Says its a 65 HP. He bought it becuase the Force he has was giving him problems. He's an admitted novice, thinking that he could use the contemporay Force Controls on the Evinrude. So he blows up the lower on the Force, and mounted the Envinrude, only to discover that the big fat width of the Evinrude prevents it from swinging fully both ways on his transom. I then break the news to him that is it highly unlikley that the controls for the Force will work on the Envinrude (he does not have controls for the Evinrude).

So now the Evinrude is for sale - It looks to be in very good shape actually. Looks like a fresh water motor given the condition of the paint. Seller claims it runs (they sprayed starter fluid in the cylinders and pulled the starter rope. I asked him not to do that anymore.

So....in good shape appearance wise, probs a fresh water motor, not locked. He wants $350 for it, and I am sure he'll take less.
No controls. Serial number and Model number below.

Can anyone tell me what it is and venture a quess on what its worth?

V-4 and it likely is a 1967 or 1968 model.
No telling what a used motor " next door " is worth.
Likely is worth $350 as you don't have to travel or ship it.
