While lost in suburbia last week...
I spotted an old Johnson Seasport parked by the side of the road, and stopped to check it out.
I used to have a '64 OMC 1700 Outboard Runabout and this Seasport looked very similar.
I'd never seen a Seasport, and was curious.
While I was walking around it, noting the differences, the owner came out and asked if I liked the boat.
When I answered "Yes!", she said i could have it, if I wanted it!
Free!!!
Trailer, title, manual and all!
It totally restored my faith in mankind...lol.
I just now got home with it!
It was a nervous trip...
My trucks not running well, and is currently unregistered and uninsured.
The trailer has no lights, and no plates,
At lest 2 of the wheel bearings are bad.
One of the tires on the trailer went flat not 2 blocks from where it was originally sitting.
And my truck kept overheating, so I had to stop a couple of times to add water.
Still...I made it home without loosing any major parts, and without getting pulled over...lol.
It's a '64 Johnson 17 Seasport Runabout 110 hp. I/O.
Model #134301E (not a "T'...what's up with that?)
S/N I-3097.
It needs lots of work, of course...
spongy floor, windshield missing, seats rotted, etc...looks like pretty much a total rebuild.
The hull is in great shape though,
considering it's age.
Johnson/OMC built em tough!
Haven't examined the motor yet, and the out-drive is in a big box, in pieces, but it looks like most of the parts are there.
This is gonna be FUN!
