My boat I've got has a 66 evinrude selectric on it. One question I've got the clutch doesn't engage in forward. The coil is drawing power but it doens't engage. Reverse works from testing. So thinking that going have tear apart the lower unit. (have to change impeller anyways) But what kind of fluid is required for the lower end? What is likely wrong with the forward gear?

Most likely the problem is a busted spring in the lower unit. Usually the "tang" on the end of the spring breaks then things just spin. You'll have to disassemble the entire lower unit to get at the spring.

Use OMC "Type C" gear oil.
