TOPIC: Fiberglassic: The Last 1956 Thunderbird Blackhawk

Fiberglassic: The Last 1956 Thunderbird Blackhawk 14 years 6 months ago #5819

I found this and checked the classic library, it did not show this boat. This is currently for sale in Everett, Wa. You may find this interesting. This is the link.

Thanks for sharing. I really like the integral molded fiberglass seats of the Thunderbird cruisers.

As a result of this post, I added model information from both a 1960 and 1962 Outboard Boat Trade-In Guide Blue Book to the Classic Boat Library. According to this information, the Blackhawk model wasn't introduced until 1960. From 1958 on, ABOS gathered information from dealers and manufacturers and published these Blue Books annually as pocket-sized references for dealers, insurers, and other industry folks.

And ABOS still exists today. I work for ABOS. The downside is the company didn't keep archived copies of the older books except for a couple here and there.

They had a competitor back in the day, The Red Book- "Sheler's Outboard Boat Price Pilot", which was eventually incorporated in the ABOS Blue Book, according to the title page of a 1968 Blue Book.

I'm sorry, I don't have any of the vintage blue books after 1963, just a couple images of the 1968 blue book borrowed from an ebay listing.

Mr. Smith
Thanks so much! I have searched the web for about 3 years now on another 1965 Del Ray and have found very little information much less another boat.
Thanks again,
Pete Huffman aka DelRay
