TOPIC: Help with boat info

Help with boat info 14 years 5 months ago #10885

First off, I am new to the forum but have been looking through the site for a bit now. I have been trying to dig up some more info on my Dad's boat through the web and thought some of you could help me out since you have been around boats longer and this being geared towards older boats.

Here's what I know:
1977 Glasspar (with Larson Industries Tag - the model number matches the Larson Force 16 I/O model # 41667)
16.5' in length or there about
    140 Mericuiser I/O

What I am still curious about/ don't know:
what would be the average weight for a boat this size for towing purposes?
I have looked for info under glasspar, but why don't I see anything past 1970.

I also attached some old brochure info I found. The top image matches up with the model number. The second image is info on a model of similar shape/style.
Thanks in advanced.

Welcome.... Glasspar built boat's from the late 50's through the 60's untill larson bought them out in 68/69 I believe. Please correct me if im wrong guys....
Most of those boat's were outboard motor style. I would sure like to see a pic of your dads boat. As far as weight goes I have no idea but maybe some one can chime in, Mike

PS I guess the average weight for a boat that size is around 2200 lbs not including the trailer, thats my guess

The boat in the first post is my Dad's boat. I will see if I can dig up any other pics of the boat. I know I have some other pics.

I was assuming the boat was around 2000lbs, based on other older boat specs with the I/0 like I posted in the PDF. I know the trailer is 600lbs, so if I assume 3000lbs for total weight for towing I should be good? I am looking to get something I can tow with it.

As for the info on Glasspar, that would explain what I have seen trying to dig up information. I have only see one other boat identical to this while trying to get info. Its just weird because the tags on the side say its a glasspar.

Glasspar started building boats in the early 1950s.

Glasspar was purchased by Larson Industries (the maker of Larson boats)in 1966. The Glasspar line was eventually merged into the Larson line.

Not sure when Larson dropped any reference to Glasspar, but it was probably in the mid 1970s.
