TOPIC: Need help with ID of old LoneStar with Fins

I bought this today and the registration says it's a '63 but no model and I didn't see it in the libary under '63. It is 14.5 feet and has a max hp rating of 50, Hull ID # is OHZ38673H663 and on the transome plate looks like 380163. I would like to find out what the original interior looked like.

Looking thru the libary it seems the metal trim on side was dropped after 1958 15' Skylark. It also looks like the '57 Continental

Hello! Beautiful boat... Looks to be a 57/58 or so Lone Star Continental or Skylark to me. The hull id number appears to be a newer number than what would have originally been on the boat back when it was manufactured because of the length and combination of numbers/letters. I've seen some boats where the state had issued a hull id number whenever the original data tag was missing. I am pretty sure the boat is not a '63 model as I am pretty sure the fins were a thing of the past by then. There are some original brochures in the library that may show interior shots for ya.

Thanks, I just recently (last week) sold my '62 SunRay which I know I will regret and was kinda depressed over the lost. Then this kinda just fell in my lap. The registration tag are Ohio tags and I don't have a title just the last registration. The guy I bought it off of bought it for the motor. I'm going to try to track down the previous owner to see if he can get a duplic title but if it's a '57 what good is a '63 title? Love the Lines.

sometimes you can gather up brochure copies that show the boat was only available in a certain year and get the date changed if you find an understanding (and caring) employee. Me, I'd slap a motor on it and run the crap outta it. 1963 title or not. No one will ever know except old boat geeks like us. And we won't tell!

chris,here in ohio titles were not issued until 63-4 on small boats. also boats were dated by the year they were sold,not necessarliy by date of build. i was able to get the year changed on a glasspar by providing the breakdown of the original serial number and copies of factory literature showing the differences in the styling. i hope you can track down the previous owner since getting a title here will involve getting a court order otherwise. good luck. skipp
