TOPIC: How do you like my rib rail

How do you like my rib rail 14 years 4 months ago #12895

I just got done putting the rib rail around the boat. Now I will let you guess what the rib rail is and how much it cost. One hint the rib rail that I put on it was not made for boats

is that just regular tubing? looks good. i have the original white on mine, and i was starting to get worried because it was getting really scuffed up and i couldnt figure out how to clean it, not to mention i couldnt find replacements anywhere. anyways, i used magic eraser on it, and it made it look brand new! just thought i would float that info out there for everybody that might have the same problem i do.

I'm guessing garden hose from the texture.

Looks good, Mike! Is it some kind of tubing or hose?

I just replaced mine on the Glasspar- I found an insert that was made for RV's that just happened to fit, so rather than paying Wefco $3-6 a foot, I bought a 100' spool for $25.00. Even if it doesn't last quite as long, I've got enough to replace it two more times!

I like that hull. I have seen the budget garden hose fix before. Not the strongest but looks OK for a while.
How are you making out with the 50?? Mine keeps inching its way to the front of the barn for a start up.

OK it is heavy duty garden hose. 50 feet for $15 at walmart. A hell of a lot cheeper the what you buy for the orignal. Took a peice of tubing ID just bigger then the OD of the hose. Cut a slit in the tubing and put a razor blad in about a half inch at and angle. Also drill a hole thorugh the tubing to screw it down to a board. Layed the hose out straight so not twists in it. Started the cut on the hose enough to get it through the tubing. Then just pulled it trough. Put it over the lip on the boat and strighed it tight and screw the end down under the end cap. Sure beats the hell out of $2 plus a foot for the orignal.
Have to get a pix of the cuter for you.
