TOPIC: 59 Glastron

59 Glastron 5 years 9 months ago #138960

Hi,
I've run across what is advertised as a 59 Glastron Sea Fury but from what I've found that model was not made in 59. Any info or suggestions to research would be appreciated. See photo.
Thanks,
John

HuH! Went looking and found nothing on a '59 model by that name. The sea fury was later years, maybe a prototype or someone swapped badges.
Bill Anderson (bilan) on here might know something more. There is a Glastron website.

Thanks for your thoughts..I did see the Glastron website you listed before and based on the info there, it appears the 59 does not have a Sea Fury model..but in the earlier models 56 and 57. Hoping to contact a Glastron "expert" but it seems that website does not have a forum like this one. Again..appreciate your help.
Best,
John

Look in the library, there is a Sea Fury, made by Sea Fury out of Florida. There is also a boat made by Fleetform which is really close to the Sea Fury, but without the fins.

Chuck,
Thanks..that makes sense...not a Glastron but a Sea Fury brand. I used to own a 59 Fleetform so I'm familiar..they are similar.

I wouldn't say I'm a Glastron expert, but that is not a Glastron. 57 through 59 were similar, big changes in 60.
Some one here can tell you what it is.
Here's a picture of my 59
Cheers
Bill

Bill,
Thanks...after reviewing the Sea Fury info in the library, it's clear it's a Sea Fury brand not a Glastron as you state..thanks for the info. Now the challenge is trying to find out info on a brand long ago merged and out of business. Would like to know if the boat was made well, how many were made, and etc. With a 35 Evinrude there is a lot of info on the motor. Any additional help would be great.
Thanks,
John

Bill,
Thanks again for the info..just saw the pics of your Glastron and it's beautiful. Glaston is a strong brand with a long and great history..hope to find more about the Sea Fury brand and why they went out of business....hope the boats were not inferior.
Best,
John

Yes, good point...have been a member of Fiberglassics. Actually I owned a red 59 Fleetform with big fins until 2009 when I moved to Florida from Texas and have wanted to get another big fin since. I believe I've found one in the Sea Fury..just need to learn more about the brand.
